Skincare Routine – Nighttime

Over the past few months, I have freshened up my nighttime skincare routine so that I have the best possible skin ever! I know, I know, I should have been taking excellent care of my skin for the past 3-5 years, but I figure better late than never! My skin has been almost flawless since I’ve started this regimen, so I thought I would share!

Skincare Routine - all products

I know that some people are devotees to one skincare line and never stray, but I believe in finding the best products for your skin, regardless of the brand. Let’s start with the first step – makeup removal!

Skincare Routine - makeup removal

This should be the first step in any woman’s nighttime routine. What a lot of ladies don’t do is take the time to remove their makeup before they wash their face. If you take off your makeup first, your cleanser is able to completely reach every nook, cranny, and pore on your face!

I love these Simple makeup remover wipes. Wipes are so much easier to use, in my opinion, than a liquid and washcloth. They are quick, easy to use, and leave no residue on your hands! Plus, the wipes are incredibly gentle on your skin (I have very sensitive skin, and they have yet to bother me!).

Next, let’s look at my face wash (or actually two face washes).

Skincare Routine - face wash

I have two face washes that I use on a regular basis. The first is by Cerave. It is a gentle, hydrating cleanser that is light enough for every day use. I typically use this face wash 5 out of 7 days a week. Its claim that it is non-drying and non-irritating is really true! The second face wash, by Caudalie (my new favorite skin care line!!), is their gentle buffing cream. I use this wash a couple of times a week to exfoliate and make sure that my skin is all shiny and soft!

After I wash my face, the first thing I work on is spot-treating the occassional zit (ladies, you know we all get them) and putting on a serum.

Skincare Routine - Spot treat and Serum

I don’t buy into all of those fancy acne-fighting or spot-treatment products…I just use all natural tea tree oil. It is 100% pure tea tree oil, and I get it from Young Living (if you haven’t heard of Young Living’s essential oils before, you really need to check them out!). If I use this oil right when I think I’m getting a spot, it usually doesn’t develop into a full out zit (yay!!). After I spot treat, I use my new favorite serum from, wait for it, Mary Kay!

I use to think that Mary Kay was for older ladies, but my sister recently started selling it. She got me hooked! I love this Timewise nighttime serum is full of Vitamins A, C, and E, and will do wonders for your skin. It is all about prevention, not treatment. I’ve learned from many a dermatologist that it is so much better in the long run to spend the money to prevent instead of treat later on! This serum is perfect for that!

Lastly, let’s look at my nighttime lotion (with a little extra addition)

Skincare Routine - lotion

I use Cerave’s basic moisturizing lotion for the end of my nighttime routine. It is simple, lightweight, and never greasy (I hate when my face feels greasy!). However, instead of just the lotion, I add a drop of Frankincense. This is another Young Living oil (100% pure oil), and it is great for fighting against fine lines and wrinkles. It just adds a little extra kick to my lotion and overall skincare routine!

Need proof? Here is a picture of me with no makeup on (well, I do have a little mascara, but nothing else…promise!).

Skincare Routine - no makeup

Never thought I would post a picture of me on the internet with no makeup, but that’s how great I feel with my skincare routine and these products!!! Hopefully one (or all!) of these products will work great for you too!
